How to transfer a FiveM asset between Keymaster accounts
When you need to move a Tebex-purchased MLO from one CFX account to another — for example onto a rented server key — this is the CFX-supported procedure.
Most of the time, you buy an asset and install it on a server registered to the same CFX account. Simple. Occasionally you need to move an asset to a different account — most commonly because the server key you’ll install on is registered to someone else’s CFX (a hosting provider, a business partner, the community organizer). CFX has an official procedure for exactly this situation. This article shows how it works and when to use it.
When you need a transfer
You bought a Fiv3Devs MLO on your personal CFX account, but the server you want to install it on uses a server key registered to a different CFX account. Without a transfer:
- The asset lives in your Keymaster grants.
- The server key is bound to someone else’s Keymaster.
- The licence check fails at server startup:
you lack the required entitlement.
See License and entitlement troubleshooting for the full background on why this happens.
A transfer moves the asset grant from your Keymaster to the target Keymaster. After the transfer, the asset works on server keys registered to the target account. You no longer own the licence.
The official procedure
CFX runs the transfer. Neither we (Fiv3Devs) nor Tebex can do it for you — it’s a Keymaster-side operation on CFX’s infrastructure.
The authoritative guide is in CFX’s help center:
How to transfer assets on Portal — support.cfx.re
Follow that guide. It’s the only procedure CFX supports.
What the guide covers (in brief)
- You (the source account) initiate the transfer from your CFX portal.
- You specify the destination CFX account.
- The destination account accepts the transfer from their portal.
- The grant moves.
CFX support can walk you through if anything gets stuck.
A few things to know before you transfer
It’s one-way. Once the asset moves, you don’t own it anymore. Only start a transfer when you’re sure the destination account is where you want it to live long-term.
It doesn’t cost anything. CFX doesn’t charge for an asset transfer. If anyone asks you to pay for one, they’re running a scam.
It doesn’t unlock refund protection. Refunds are a Tebex decision, not a Keymaster one. A transfer doesn’t affect refund eligibility.
Do it once. You can’t “lend” an asset to another account. Transfer it permanently or don’t.
Transfer, then install. Don’t install the asset on the new server until the transfer is complete and the destination account’s Keymaster portal lists it under Granted Assets. If you install too early, the licence check will still fail.
After the transfer
Install normally — download from the destination account’s Keymaster, extract, drop into the
server’s resources/ folder, add the ensure line, restart. The step-by-step is in
How to install a FiveM MLO.
If you’re still stuck
Transfer issues are CFX-side. The fastest path is:
Include your Tebex Transaction ID, the source CFX account ID, and the destination CFX account ID. CFX support has everything they need to inspect the grant and complete the move.
One prevention tip
If you know ahead of time that an asset will end up on a rented server key registered to a hosting provider, buy the asset on the account that owns the key to begin with — no transfer needed. When that’s not an option, the transfer procedure above is fine. It’s well-supported, and we’ve seen hundreds of customers go through it without issue.
